Legionella update: Illinois Department of Public Health reports two new cases of legionella at the Illinois Veterans’ Home at Quincy
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - “The latest reports of Legionella bacteria at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, while unfortunate, should not surprise anyone. In their public testimony at hearings and in response to questions at private visits to the facility, administration officials have made it clear that microfilm from the bacteria is present throughout all the plumbing at the site. I hope my fellow elected officials, rather than attempting to score political points, will focus on making the difficult choices about how we can limit the exposure of our veterans to this threat, while still giving them the high quality care we all agree they deserve.”
