Senate Hearing: Minorities and State Pension Investment Opportunities
58th District State Senator Paul Schmipf (R-Waterloo), a member of the Illinois Senate Special Committee on State and Pension Fund Investments, hears testimony October 16 about minority and women participation in the state’s public pension systems.
The Committee is holding meetings Oct. 16 and 17 in Chicago to review the level of opportunity for minority and women-owned investment firms and as members of state pension boards. Responding to a question from Sen. Schimpf about how Illinois is responding, one witness said Illinois is making progress increasing opportunities. While admitting the same conclusion, other witnesses said there is still room for improvement.
