SCHIMPF ANNOUNCES COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS
SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Sen. Paul Schimpf (R-Waterloo) announced his first committee assignments as the Illinois Senate finishes its organizational preparations for the 100th General Assembly.
Senator Schimpf will serve as the Republican spokesman for the Senate’s Veterans Affairs Committee. The spokesman duties will focus on the state’s policy toward returning and older veterans, Illinois’ four veterans’ homes, and dozens of veterans’ service offices.
“After serving in the Marines for more than 20 years, I am excited to apply my experience to protect the welfare of Illinois veterans. I have been active with veterans’ causes since my 2013 retirement,” Schimpf said. “It is an honor to serve as the Senate Republican spokesperson for veterans’ issues. Illinois is home to many veterans and the 58th District has its fair share of military personnel since we neighbor Scott Air Force Base.”
Prior to his election to the Senate, Schimpf served on the Illinois Veterans’ Suicide Task Force, which completed its work during the 99th General Assembly.
Schimpf will also serve on the Senate’s Agriculture; Commerce and Economic Development; Financial Institutions; Telecommunications and Info Technology; and the Judiciary committees.
