Unused, expired prescription drugs? Get rid of them Saturday, April 28
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day will be held Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is a safe and responsible way to dispose of your unwanted prescription drugs that have gone unused and/or expired.
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, last year’s Take-Back Day event collected a record-setting 912,305 pounds of prescription drugs. The goal of this yearly event is to address a public safety and public health issue. A 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health shows 6.4 million Americans abused controlled prescription drugs, and a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
